Button mushrooms are small, round, white-to-cream colored fungi that belong to the Basidiomycetes class. They are cultivated commercially and form a vital part of vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets. Nutritionally, they are a rich source of proteins, B-vitamins (B2, B3, B5), selenium, potassium, phosphorus, and antioxidants such as ergothioneine and glutathione. Their low fat and sodium content make them ideal for maintaining metabolic and cardiovascular health.
